What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
We had a new IT Director. I was a support specialist. He made a major mistake on his first day, listening to an engineer who wanted his job. Took down a server. They decided to cover it up.
I was low-man on the totem pole but told them I would side with them but issued a warning that all things done in darkness would come to light and I don’t agree because one day it will come back to bite us in the butt.
It worked for three month until one of those involved got made and told the CIO what really happened.
Of course he got fired but his parting words. “Tony, I haven’t met anyone like you. It will not be your tech skills that get you anywhere, it will be your heart.”
No lies were told!
