I wanted to get some thoughts down on tonight. Last Saturday I was in tears listening to a colleague (white) describe how he has no words for the lack of concern for African American lives.
Anthony part of that conversation was with a law enforcement official who was in a training session at the DuSable Museum in Chicago with fellow white police officers. As they received images on the civil rights movements with dogs being let loose on protestors and children being stuff into police cars, they responded, “We never were taught this in school and had no idea it happened”.
We are not teaching any of our children the truth.
I’m repeating myself because that what it seems like we are doing in history. I wanted to get some thoughts down on tonight. Last Saturday I was in tears listening to a colleague (white) describe how he has no words for the lack of concern for African American lives by his own race.
He teared up. I balled. He doesn’t have answers, I don’t have answers.
All we have is conversation.
Good night!
